Press Release
Folklore Canada International is pleased to announce the Exchange happening in Canada with its Associate Members of the Filipino Community between British Columbia and Montreal – through SEVEC under the Exchange Canada Program
From June 30 to July 6, 2006, PAMANA NG LUZVIMINDA will be hosting the famous group of British Columbia PHILCAS (Philippine Cultural Art Society of British Columbia) a 20 member delegation lead by Aimee Jo Milendres, who has been under the training and direction of Nes and Tonette Gatus, formerly members of the International Touring Group of the famous Bayanihan Dance Company of the Philippines.
From July 12 to 18, 2006, PHILCAS will be hosting Pamana Ng Luzviminda, a 20 member delegation from Montreal, whose membership ranges from age 6 to 28 (most members are from various Philippine Dance troupe in Montreal), lead by a youth group; John Tuvida, Veraida-Lynn Bermejo and Sherling Dela Paz, who are committed to continue the task of preserving and promoting the Philippine cultural heritage locally, nationally and internationally; thereby showcasing Canada’s multicultural diversity.
This exchange would greatly improve their vision of learning from one another the Philippine heritage through dance and music as both group members are mostly Canadian born who are unaware of their Filipino values, tradition and lore.
